Coffee is an anorectic and will suppress your appetite. Drinking some coffee when you get the urge to stuff your face – is what my coffee addict friends and I call “Getting Jazzed.” We talk about how great we feel working when we are ‘jazzed’, which means hungry and caffeinated (with coffee specifically). We are sharper and truly do make better career decisions. Even our Yogi friend teaches classes ‘jazzed’ – although she reminds us to push that water hard so we aren’t dehydrated.
Coffee is a diuretic and while it won’t completely dehydrate you to death, it won’t hydrate you to health….Drinking a lot of water has shown to help you loss weight, too. Her thing is…yeah, the coffee helps you burn fat faster but if you don’t have the water available to carry about the waste, you aren’t helping yourself. But H2O and coffee…magic.
One cup of black coffee has
What else can we add to coffee to enhance coffee’s already amazing weight loss effects?
Cream and Sugar? No, type 2 Diabetes and weight gain.
Butter? Dave Asprey says, yes, and lots of it. Yak-butter in his coffee when he was in Tibet made him feel like a million bucks, and it was hard to say of what cause, but he lost weight AND felt great! Flash published an article saying this, ” In 2009, he perfected his blended breakfast; the official Bulletproof coffee recipe contains two cups of high-quality, single-origin coffee, at least two tablespoons of unsalted grass-fed butter, and one to two tablespoons of MCT (medium-chain triglycerides) oil, a concentrated extract of a type of fat found in palm and coconut oils.”
Dave Asprey is a Paleo diet fan, absolutely. He lost 100 lbs back home on that Bulletproof coffee recipe. He replaced his breakfast with it. There is great “beef” to pick with this by people like Kris Gunnars writing for Authority Nutrition. Even if you are going to lose weight you do not know want to be nutrient deficient. We are going for being MORE of a person with less weight, not less weight AND less great a person (because you have dramatically elevated cholesterol, for example).
Kris Gunnars has no “grass fed beef” to pick with coffee itself. It’s just all that butter. She’s like coffee’s official spokesperson, calling coffee “one of the healthiest beverages on the planet.” In this article she talks about a remarkable study. The results were that 4-5 cups of coffee per day had 12% reduced risk of death for men and 16% reduced risk of death for women. 1 cup has a 5-6% reduction in risk of death. In another article she points out the 13 health benefits to coffee. See those here.
WeightLoss Coffee Works is finding that happy medium. It’s not Black – it’s a green bean. It’s not butter or oil it’s a leaf and a fruit.
